A quiet Saturday

We saw flurries here in Seattle today. While I'm used to rain and grim in winter, snow is not something I am too fond of.
We thought about going to Woodland Zoo to see their famous lantern lights. There were some tickets left at 7pm, but I figured it was going to be an extra cold day. I hesitated for about two hours, and when I returned to my laptop, sure enough all the tickets were sold out.
It was 4pm. My husband asked what I craved. I gave some thought. Some Vietnamese vermicelli salad or dim sum sound good. I google how long it takes to Chinatown. I also google some nearby dim sum spots and gasp at the price tag: $8 per dish. The dinner then will end up being $70-80 after tips and tax, something I wouldn't have minded before, but nowadays I am more careful about my spending. After all, everyone says we're about to enter a long long recession.
In the afternoon, our little boy mimics all sorts of animals from a toad, flamingo, snake to a sleeping squirrel. His excitement and silly face make us laugh. It's the kind of laugh only intimate family members can share. He runs around the house and dances, making funny moves. I can't believe how adorable and sweet his personality is, the fun loving beautiful soul. His hair is soon sweaty with all that dancing. It's not necessarily the fancy concert or ticket to an event that marks children's memories, I read. It's the time families spend together, just really really being together enjoying each other's company.
At dinner, skipping eating out wasn't that bad of an idea at the end. I fried up some frozen dumplings and cooked some Korean cold spicy noodles. The flavors were great together and the little one was happy. A simple night. So uneventful. So grateful.
